The Louisiana Psychological Association is sponsoring a series of free Emotional Resiliency workshops designed to assist participants who have been psychologically negatively impacted by the recent flood event in the Baton Rouge area. Three workshops will target adult participants (with childcare provided from 9 am-12 noon on November 5, 12, and 19) and three designed for children and youth (9 am-12 noon on December 3, 10, 17). Participation will be limited to 40 participants per workshop.
The LPA Resiliency Workshop Committee (chaired by Dr. Darlyne Nemeth and myself) is seeking Ph.D. Psychologists to volunteer to serve as group facilitators, and psychology graduate students to assist in the implementation of the workshop activities. All workshops will be in the Baton Rouge area. A workshop site has not been determined but we are seeking a site as close as possible to one of the affected areas.
All volunteers must attend a Training Workshop on October 29, 2016 (location and time TBA). All volunteers need to commit to participate at TWO scheduled workshops. LPA is also soliciting donations to defray the cost of refreshments, supplies, and lunch for the workshops (LPA itself is prohibited from providing financial support for this activity). Suggested amount is $10.00 (more if you can).
To volunteer, email resiliencyworkshops@gmail com and indicate that you wish to volunteer or call Dr. Nemeth at the following number only: 225-926-7799.
Donations may be sent to: Louisiana Psychological Association, 1003 Leycester Dr., Baton Rouge, LA 70808.
Thank you for your consideration.
